....Tomorrow I'm off to London with my friend John James. John is the guitarist in a band called My Preserver and tomorrow night (2 May 2009) they will be the second ever unsigned band to headline at the Indigo2. The Indigo2 is a 2000 capacity venue within the o2. It should be a rocking night and I'll be there to document the day and the gig with my photographs so watch out for some new photos coming to the site soon.

In other news, I'll be an official photographer for three festivals (so far) this summer and those include The Hop Farm Festival, Brighton BeachDown Festival and hopefully the Big Chill again as well. More on these to follow...

New lens

In addition to the wonderful news that I am soon to be a father, I have FINALLY got myself a new lens! I have got myself a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens and very nice it is too. I have also purchased and installed Photoshop Elements 7 as I feel it is time to move on to shooting in RAW format, so expect to see some of the results soon...

I'm gonna be a daddy!

Well, in case you aren't aware, my wife and I having a baby!! My wife, Maxine, is 11.5 weeks into the pregnancy and this pic is a scan we had done this week! The baby is due in October :)

Good news!

A bit of good news: an online company, musicpictures.com, part of Redferns Music Photography, have agreed to represent my live music shots on their site! This could potentially be very lucrative, as people will now be able to buy digital versions of my photos from Music Pictures to use editorially, in advertisements or anything really!

In other news, sometime in the next few weeks I should be buying my lens, which is a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 and I cannot wait to try it out at some live gigs a.s.a.p.!

Well it's been a busy month, but not for my photography unfortunately. I finished testing the Nokia N95 8GB at the beginning of the month and thoroughly enjoyed it - what a great phone. I was then sent the N81 8GB and boy what a difference! I really did NOT like it at all so the less said about that the better. Sent it back yesterday - truthfully, I've had a very busy, stressful month and have been unable to test the N81 properly but the first impressions were not good. I maybe testing the Nokia E66 soon - so more on this later with a bit of luck.

I am really enjoying my time with the N95. In addition to the other aspects about which I have previously waxed lyrical, I must say that it is one of the clearest sounding handsets I've used in a long time. By now, Nokia really should know what they are doing with regards to the sound quality of a mobile telephone call and by jingo, I think they've got it! My other phone is an LG Viewty which I love dearly but during calls, people are constantly telling me that I am 'breaking up' and that they cannot hear me properly, so it is refreshing to use a phone with superior quality calls.

I also use the Viewty to check my emails while on the move and I can happily do this with the N95, again with finer results! I would often lose the signal when connecting to the internet with the Viewty, but not so with the trusty Nokia - it provides a fantastic quick link to my emails and I am very happy with it.

I have had a chance to play...

I have had a chance to play with it a little more now: I've been playing Dirk Dagger, a text and graphic based detective N-Gage game, in a comedic 'Humphrey Bogart' style, reminiscent of Steve Martin's wonderful 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid'. It's a fun game which looks fantastic on the N95's massive screen. The pictures are clear and bright, the in-game text is easy to read and it's actually quite well written and funny - I like a bit of sarcastic banter and there's no shortage of that either. You're on the search for this 'dame', for this guy who's given you a wodge of green to find her, take some photos of her and ultimately retrieve a 'statue' that she has apparently taken from your client. That's as far as I have got so far and I hope to play it some more this weekend, so please check back for further updates when you can.

I got the phone yesterday afternoon. Not a bad phone indeed - nothing I haven't seen before though. Lovely screen, and plenty of apps and things to play around with. No sim card was provided, so I have to use mine. Not all the games are downloaded to the phone (some are though). Five N-Gage game voucher cards with authorisation numbers on are supplied, with which to download more games, but that will cost me so not sure I'll be doing that (not yet anyway)! I went to charge it a minute ago only to discover it only has a 2 pin plug on the charger! So will have to shove it in the electric toothbrush plug adapter at home in order to charge it - not a great idea to send it out like that in my opinion.Still the games on the phone aren't bad - they are:

Dirk Dagger
Brothers In Arms
Star Wars: Force Unleashed

Not too shabby at all really - will give it a proper assessment over the next few days. Please check back soon for more updates.
